Bharat Ratna award to the country’s former Deputy Prime Minister and long-time BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani is not only a recognition of his personality, ability and qualities, it is also completely logical because of his two main contributions.
The first contribution is to establish a new standard of political correctness and second, to challenge the state appeasement of pseudo-secularism and Islamic fundamentalism in the public discourse with facts and arguments.
Today many parties raise the flag of being secular and 100% inspired by Gandhism, but they forget that Gandhiji had always followed Guchita (including opposition to familyism) in public life.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : The few politicians who followed this dignity in independent India were ideologically closest to Gandhiji. Lal Krishna Advani is also among them. When Advaniji’s name came up in Jain hawala while he was in opposition, he resigned from the membership of Lok Sabha to keep his political credibility intact and vowed not to go to Parliament until proven innocent.
He returned to electoral politics in 1998 when the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court declared him clean. Narendra Modi also followed this tradition of political correctness.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : When the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Supreme Court called Narendra Modi for questioning in the 2002 Gujarat riots case in 2010, when he was the Chief Minister, he reached the SIT office in Gandhinagar without the crowd of workers and interviewed him nine times in two sessions. Took part in the hour-long interrogation till 1 am in the night.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : What is the current situation in comparison to this? This is due to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal repeatedly ignoring the summons of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the case of financial malpractices, his claim of running the government from jail, the ED meeting with top Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi-Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani Effect on opositon Party
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani Effect on opositon Party : Opposition parties may react in different ways to Advani being awarded the Bharat Ratna. Some may criticize it as a political move by the ruling party to gain electoral gains, while others may acknowledge Advani’s contribution but stress the need to focus on current issues and leadership.
At the time of questioning of Congress leaders-workers leading to nationwide protests, issuing orders to ban the entry of central investigating agencies in several states ruled by opposition parties like Trinamool Congress, DMK etc. and Lalu Prasad Yadav convicted by the court in the fodder scam. This is evident from the sharing of stage by self-proclaimed secularists. In this background, the difference in the behavior of Advaniji and the above mentioned opposition parties is clear.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : After the establishment of BJP in the year 1980, Advaniji directly challenged with arguments and facts that secularism, which had become synonymous with appeasement of minorities and especially Muslims, divorced Shahbani of Madhya Pradesh. In 1985, when the Supreme Court gave a historic decision to give her maintenance allowance from her husband, the fundamentalist section of the Muslim society was shocked. Thousands of Muslims demonstrated in many parts of the country with slogans like ‘Islam is in danger’ and ‘Save Shariat’.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : The court’s decision was an important step towards bringing progressive and Muslim women out of the medieval era, but the then Rajiv Gandhi government surrendered to Islamic fundamentalists and overturned the decision of the Supreme Court in the Shah Bano case with the help of an overwhelming majority. That episode established a narrow mindset in a section of the Indian Muslim society, cut off from its roots and confused by leftist historians, that they could bring the Indian system to its knees.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : This also happened over time. For any section of Awadhesh Rajput Muslims to associate themselves with Babar is like the Christian community insisting on installing the statue of George V in place of Gandhiji’s statue in Delhi because he was a Christian. Gandhiji was a Hindu, but he belongs to this country, not George V. Similarly, Shri Ram belongs to this country.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani Effect on Loksabha Election 2024
As of my last update in January 2022, there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding Lalkrishan Advani being awarded the Bharat Ratna, which is India’s highest civilian award. However, I can provide some speculation on how such an event might hypothetically affect the 2024 Lok Sabha elections based on general political dynamics in India.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : On the issue of history and culture, I would request the Muslim leadership that if the Muslims of Indonesia can be proud of Ram and Ramayana then why not the Indian Muslims?” Advaniji had his hand straight on the pulse of the Hindu-Muslim problem. The truth is that Indians A section of Muslim society still considers as its hero those Islamic invaders like Aurangzeb who tried to trample the cultural identity of Gauri, Ghaznavi, Babar, Khilji, Abdali etc.
When Advaniji was always at the pinnacle of Nation First politics with his Rath Yatra in the Ram Janmabhoomi issue, then in the year 1995, in the BJP General Conference in Mumbai, he announced the appointment of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the Prime Ministerial candidate as party president.
Advaniji writes on this in his biography, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement after 1980 and in September October 1990 was an expansion of cultural nationalism.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : Lal Krishna Advani’s Rath Yatra India Till 1984, Gandhian leader of the Congress and twice interim Prime Minister of the country, Gulzarilal Nanda along with top leader and former minister of Uttar Pradesh Congress, Dawoodyal Khanna, were supporting the struggle for the liberation of Ram Janmabhoomi.
Bharat Ratna to Lalkrishan Advani : Since his power was limited, therefore, he got the support of Moropant Pingle and Ashok Singhal from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, who gave incomparable momentum to the Ramjanmabhoomi movement. BJP’s Palampur manifesto passed on 9-11 June 1989 under the chairmanship of Advaniji and the Rath Yatra taken out under his leadership in September-October 1990 played a leading role in connecting the public in this cultural struggle.
The qualities highlighted in L.K. Advani’s statement from a 1987 interview, “What I have done is not a sacrifice. It is the result of a reasoned assessment of what is right and what is in the best interest of the nation,” are what make him deserving of the Bharat Ratna.
